What is the Wests Sports Council?

The Macquarie Fields Swimming Club’s major sponsor is Wests Leagues Campbelltown. Being sponsored by Wests provides many privileges including being one of twenty local sporting organisations coming under the wing of the Wests Sports Council. Our club has been a member of the Sports Council since 1998.

Each year we are eligible to apply to the Wests Sports Council for a monetary grant to help develop our club and members. This is a major source of funding for the club. In return we promote and acknowledge Wests Leagues support as much as possible on our club apparel, signage, website, swim meet programs, correspondence, and anywhere else highly visible to business partners and the general public. We also like to encourage all of our members to patronise Wests.

Each month of the Wests Sports Council Year - April through March - nominations from each of the member clubs are called for in the following categories –

Encouragement Award
Junior Sports Person Award (5-12 years)
Youth Sports Person Award (12-16 years)
Senior Sports Person Award (over 16 years)
Spirit of Sport Award
Team Award

The monthly nominations from our club are submitted by our committee. Nominations are based on performances at club meets and external meets, enthusiasm and commitment towards training, sportsmanship, and clubmanship.

The nominations from all of the Sports Council member clubs are considered by a panel of Wests Sports Council judges who vote on each category. The clubs of each of the winners are notified, and the results are published in the Macarthur Chronicle. Each winner is notified with a letter of congratulations, and a voucher for the Wests Leagues Club Bistro.

Each year in May or June, the Wests Sports Council Presentation is held at Wests Leagues Club. This is a night of great entertainment, a dinner, and the award winners from each month receive their medals. The Wests Sports Council also awards an overall yearly winner in each of the categories from all of the monthly winners. All of our monthly winners will have their ticket to this presentation paid for and receive a copy of their winning nomination submission. Family and friends can also purchase tickets to this great night.
